October 25th, 2011: That Saturday many of the Wall Street occupiers followed the example of the march from Union Square for Troy Davis two days earlier. As you may have heard directly from some of the marchers, or maybe you heard here at ACD, 96 people were arrested and the NYPD showed their first burst of mass violence & arrests against the occupation. The violence swiftly made the cover of the Daily News as many of the arrested were the sons and daughters of this country’s privileged.

That evening after interviewing several of the resistors at Zucotti Park, we witnessed artists share their words and song with the resistors group. The power of the people is in large part our ability to inspire and empower each other. These performances illustrate that. Look, listen and take some of that power with you to do your part during this historic moment of real possibility for lasting change in our society.
